I'm not trying to offend anyone with this thread. I'm sorry if I sound mean. I'm just very confused

Soooo what the hell is going on? Why My Little Pony? Why are grown men and teenage boys obsessed with this stuff? It's aimed at like 7 year old girls. When will this trend end?

I don't mean to offend anyone when I say this but I'm honestly thinking what has this world come to?

Don't give me that "the animation is amazing" or "the story is very well written" or whatever bulls***. I don't buy it. If those were the real reasons then there wouldn't a bunch of bronie conventions with grown men dressing up as a pony

Apparently the story really is well-written.

I myself would still never watch it, but keep in mind people think shows such as DBZ are childish.
Now on this forum I think we can all agree that adults can enjoy DBZ as well, even though it is originally meant to entertain children.

DBZ is full of testerone, explosions, and fighting though. My Little Pony is...

I'll keep it short. If my older brother was a Brony, he's no longer my older brother

@Ginyu Yeah but dbz is actually aimed at teenage boys and older. Anyone who thinks its only for little kids hasn't seen the scenes where people's brains get literally punched out or their throats crushed

The target audience for my little pony is literally little girls. Not even teenagers

It truly was a Shawshank redemption

People like what they like. I don't believe anybody should be made to feel bad for liking something. There may be times when I don't understand how they could like it, but that doesn't mean I begrudge them it, and at no point would I ever make look down on or make fun of them because they enjoy it (anymore, I'd be lying if I said I didn't do that when I was younger, but we all fall victim to childish behaviours when we were younger). If someone finds genuine joy in something, let them be. Like Ginyu said, there are many people who would see DBZ as aimed at younger people, when there are many adult fans.

However, when it comes to 'Bronies' I do think a lot of it has to do with a struggle for an identity. Being a 'Brony' give them a sense of belonging, and something they can point to and say 'that's what my personality is' because they're struggling to find who they are. Like I said, if they like it, good on them, but in most cases once they've progressed a bit further in life and have found themselves more, they'll 'grow out of it'.

Here's a documentary. Might creep you out even more, then again, might make you help understand:

Technically it was made for everybody. The creator of the show stated she created it for little girls and their parents, including male parents

And Dragon Ball is made for young kids too, it's called "Shonen" for a reason. I'm fairly sure Toriyama has stated that he made it for elementary school children.

As for why people like it, it's going to be different reasons for different people. If this many adult males like it then it's obviously got something in it to appeal to that demographic, and that's pretty much all there is to it. I mean I personally don't find Football very entertaining, despite it being huge in this country, because it's nothing but men kicking a ball around, yet it's considered a manly thing to watch.

Just get your head out of stereotypes and realise there's no universal rules that determine what you should watch based on your age and/or gender. If you don't like it great, don't watch it. If some guys like it, great let them watch it. Everyone's happy.

That makes no sense. "People wouldn't dress up and go to cons" if they enjoy something because it's well written and has good animation? So why DO people dress up and go to cons? Because the character designs are good?

Disney is made for young kids as well, still gets lots of fans. Hell, Spider-Man and Batman have been aimed at young children before(the cartoon especially).

It's just a good show. There isn't really much more to it.

It's the ones who make all those inappropriate content for the show that creep me out. The rest are free to enjoy the show innocently.

It's not a brony thing specifically. Every fandom has that

People make inappropriate content for Rugrats. Let that sink in. Making porn of cartoon horses is a little weird to me, but eh they're not hurting anybody so do whatever they makes them happy, I guess.

My Little Pony now is more aimed at general audiences than it is toward girls. It has a largely male oriented theme with the ponies having super powers.

I knew what MLP was 20 years ago. I remember this one girl at my day care who loved it, and always wanted me to play pretend with her and it. I didn't understand how to pretend play MLP, so she always got mad that I was doing it wrong or whatever. So I just walked off and played with legos.

Legos are pretty much the reason why i'm an engineer.

Maybe some people had the same experiences that I did when they were 20 years younger, and they simply loved it. It's kind of like going ape-s*** over Transformers or GI-Joe. Except without a gender role binary.
